Background of our drums
In 2010, I bought my own drum, made by Vice Native Drums. A beautiful piece of craftsmanship that accompanies me to this very day. The craftsman behind Vice invented an ingenious system to make the best drums in the world. In 2022, my partner Stephan and I apprenticed with Vice to learn more about the craftsmanship and not let this knowledge go to waste.
In the coming years we will continue to learn! By now we have built many beautiful drums.
What is so special about these drums?
The frame of the drum is made out of 1 piece of tree trunk. Besides looking beautiful, this provides unprecedented stability and sturdiness so that a lot of tension can be put on it. The tensioning system ensures that you can tune your drum properly and quickly under all circumstances. Hot, cold, indoors, outdoors….a stable sound can be maintained anywhere. In short; a professionally built music instrument.
Buy a drum from us?
All drums are handmade with lots of love and craftsmanship. There are no standard sizes, every drum is unique.
The drum’s diameter varies between 25cm to about 60cm (~10″-23″). The woods and skins vary. The combination of size, wood, skin type and how beautiful the drum looks determines the price. Prices range from about €175 to €500.
You are welcome to visit us to try the drums and to take your time. We always have a selection of drums in Berlin, Utrecht and in Weserbergland (near Hannover).
